What we pour

Four things, done to a high standard

Residential concrete around Tauranga and the Western Bay. Every job gets the same base prep, the same reinforcing, and the same finish standard whether it is a three metre path or a full double driveway.

Service 01

Concrete driveways

The one everyone sees and the one that takes the most weight. We break out the old surface, dig to depth, compact a proper base course, lay mesh, then pour at the thickness your access actually needs. Vehicle crossings onto a council road are handled start to finish, including the approval.

  • ›Vehicle crossings and kerb cuts
  • ›Plain, broom, exposed aggregate or coloured finish

Service 02

Paths & footpaths

Side paths, entry paths, steps and washing line runs. Laid with fall so water goes where you want it and the surface still grips when it is wet, with a non-slip broom finish as standard.

Patios & outdoor areas

Somewhere flat for the table, the spa or the barbecue. We match the level to your door threshold, keep the fall away from the house, and pick a finish that does not turn into a skating rink after rain.

Shed & house slabs

Slabs for sheds, garages, granny flats and new builds, set out to the engineer's plan and poured to level. We work in with your builder and the council inspection so nothing holds up your programme.

Finishes

Pick how you want it to look

The concrete underneath is the same quality either way. The finish changes the look, the grip underfoot and the price per square metre, so it is worth seeing samples before you decide.

Broom finish

The standard, and still the best value. Light texture dragged across the surface for grip. Practical on slopes and easy to keep clean.

Close up of exposed aggregate concrete with washed river stone detail

Exposed aggregate

Top layer washed back to reveal the stone. Hides marks well, looks sharp at the front of a house, and comes in a range of stone colours.

Charcoal coloured concrete patio with a smooth even tone

Coloured concrete

Oxide through the mix for an even tone right through the slab. Charcoals and warm greys are the popular pick for patios and entries.

What it costs

Rough prices, before anyone comes out

Nobody likes chasing quotes for weeks just to find out a job is double what they thought. These are the ranges most residential jobs in Tauranga land in, supplied and laid, GST included. Your written quote is the real number.

Driveways

Plain or broom finish, 100mm with mesh

$110–$160/m²

Exposed aggregate

Driveways and entries, stone washed back

$160–$220/m²

Paths

Narrow runs, more edging per square metre

$130–$180/m²

Patios

Plain through to coloured finishes

$140–$200/m²

Shed & house slabs

Engineered, thickened edges and reinforcing

$160–$230/m²

What moves the price

Two driveways the same size can be hundreds of dollars apart. These are the things that make the difference.

01Access. If the truck cannot get close, we pump or barrow, and that costs more.
02Break out and cart away. Removing an old slab adds machine time and tip fees.
03Digging and base course. Soft or wet ground needs more metal compacted underneath.
04Thickness and reinforcing. A driveway taking a boat or truck is built heavier than a path.
05Finish and shape. Exposed aggregate, colour, curves and steps all add labour.

Questions

The things people ask us

If yours is not here, send it through with your quote request. Happy to talk it through even if you are only at the thinking-about-it stage.

Ask us in the quote form
+How long before I can drive on a new driveway?

Walk on it after 24 to 48 hours. Keep cars off for 7 days, and heavy stuff like trucks, caravans or a loaded trailer off for a full 28 days while it gets to strength.

+Do I need council consent?

Most driveways, paths and patios at ground level do not need building consent. A new or widened vehicle crossing onto a council road needs a vehicle crossing approval from Tauranga City Council, and a structural slab for a house or large shed does need consent. We tell you which applies when we quote, so nothing gets missed.

+Will it crack?

All concrete moves as it cures. The job is to control where it cracks. A properly compacted base, steel mesh or fibre reinforcing, and saw cuts at the right spacing mean any movement follows the joint instead of running through the middle of your slab.

+How long does a driveway take?

Two to four days on site for most residential driveways. Break out and cart away, then digging, base course and boxing, then the pour and finish. Exposed aggregate needs an extra day to wash off.

+Can you pour in winter?

Yes. We watch the forecast and will not pour into heavy rain or a frost. Bay of Plenty winters are mild enough to pour most weeks of the year, it just means a bit of flexibility on the date.

+Do you take the old concrete away?

Yes. Break out, cart away and tip fees are itemised in the quote so you can see what that part of the job actually costs.

+When do I pay?

A fixed quote in writing up front, a deposit to cover materials before we start, and the balance once the job is finished and you have walked it with us and you are happy.
